The steps of producing activated alumina balls
Jan 13, 2022
Activated alumina ball is a product made of activated alumina after special treatment. In use, it has the properties of non-toxic, odorless, non-pulverizing, strong water absorption, and insoluble in water. So how does it come to be produced? Its production steps can be mainly divided into the following steps:
1. Drying: The raw material contains 7%-8% moisture, and the attached moisture is evaporated by raising the temperature to 150-200°C.
2. Crushing: The dried raw materials enter the mechanical mill to crush the materials. The crushing particle size can be adjusted according to the production needs. Generally, the particle size of activated alumina balls is controlled between 325 meshes and 500 meshes.
3. Rapid dehydration: Rapid dehydration by suspension roasting and rapid cooling. The residence time of the raw materials in the device is short, and the obtained powder is also called "quick powder removal", and the crystal form is "ρ alumina". The inlet temperature of the rapid dehydration kiln is 800-900°C, and the outlet temperature of the kiln is 410-460°C.
4. Ball making: This process is the key point in production. In the ball making process, the size, bulk density, crushing strength, specific surface area and pore volume of activated alumina balls can be controlled. The ball making method adopts a disc to form a ball, and adds a certain amount of additives such as: ammonium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, etc.
5. Activation roasting: enter the activation process after the ball is made, and then use the high temperature 90-100 ℃ steam to hydrate for 4-6 hours after the activation of the pellet. Then enter the shaft kiln to carry out the roasting process, the roasting temperature is 400-450 ℃, and the roasting time is 40-45 minutes.
In the production of activated alumina balls, we must pay attention to controlling the temperature of each production stage, which is very important for the quality and performance of the finished product.
